Why Kim Wayans left in the house?

Robert Sean Leonard played Dr. James Wilson, who was House's only true friend and quite frankly one of our favorite supporting actors thanks to their buddy dynamic. After it wrapped, she starred in two shows that were one-season wonders (The Grinder and The Astronaut Wives Club) before landing her latest big role as Reign on Supergirl. While her season seven arc as the Martha M. Masters was short and sweet, we've seen a lot of Amber Tamblyn since when she starred in 24 episodes of Two and a Half Men and being a critical voice around the #MeToo movement. Just about eight years ago, we said goodbye to the M.D.'s on House after a thrilling eight seasons of unexplained medical cases, exciting friendships and plenty of zingers from Hugh Laurie's Dr. House.

Where is Cristina Gibson from Summer House now?

Haunting Crystal is her disturbed ex-boyfriend, David, a demon who can possess people to do horrible things. Before being exorcised by the Dead Boy Detectives, he took some of Crystal’s memories and continues to torment her. David The Demon is played by The Summer I Turned Pretty star David Iacono.

These days, he is best known for his long-running role as Special Agent Sam Hanna in the NCIS franchise, which he finally retired this year after 14 years.

Since the show has wrapped, Laurie has had supporting roles in shows like Veep and The Night Manager. They said before the vote that they opposed unfettered aid to Israel that could be used in its offensive in Gaza. The opposition to the Israel aid represented a minority of Democrats, but reflected the deep resistance to unconditional aid and the divisions in the party on Gaza. He was brought to life by the large and in charge Tony Longo. With a heart as big as his frame, Big Ben was the teddy bear you didn’t want to mess with, but always wanted in your corner. Tonia, played by the dynamic Elise Neal, left “In the House” because she got a swoon-worthy job offer in New York—talk about the Big Apple calling! She got to spread her wings and soar off to bigger and, hopefully, better things. With her charm and style, she turned heads and stirred the pot at Marion’s crib, becoming an unforgettable face everyone looked forward to seeing when the credits rolled. Following the conclusion of In The House in 1999, LL Cool J kept the music rolling with his eighth album, G.O.A.T. This was his first and, to date, only album to top the Billboard 200 charts.

While we've seen glimpses of Season 6 cast member Andrea Denver in both Seasons 7 and 8 of Summer House, he's no longer around full time. The Italian model is busy with a successful career and some pretty fabulous world traveling, according to his Instagram activity. That said, some friends do stick around — never leave us, Lindsay Hubbard! — and even show up in the colder seasons, thanks to Winter House. By the time the show wrapped up, they weren’t exactly sitting pretty, but like a cat, they always landed on their feet. Ultimately, the “In the House” actors remind us that whether on the stage, behind a boardroom desk, or at a charity gala, the script of life reserves ample room for acts of passion, rewrites, and stunning transformation scenes. They are small flying insects that infest or contaminate stored pantry goods such as grain, cereal, flour, and other dry food. They are also known as grain moths or Indian meal moths because they commonly infest powdered Indian corn or cornmeal in America. These pests enter the home via newly-purchased clothes or bird, rodent, and other animal nests made inside attics, crawl spaces, or nearby trees, add the experts at Orkin.

For instance, Brown House Moth larvae that feast on grains will have a different color than those eating a red wool sweater. If you see moths flying around in your house, they probably aren't clothes moths—you have a pantry moth problem. These small pests, which infest flour and grains, have bronze or gray wings and a yellow-gray upper body. Their most defining feature is the black band that circles around the wings' upper and lower segments. Typical of all house moths, the larvae of case-bearing clothes moths are the insects that cause the damage.

Things People Believe About Mosquitoes That Aren’t True

It’s common to experience moths in the house if there is a lot of movement in and out of the structure. The insects may slip in easily through the door, or an open window. In some instances, moths get in the house because they are simply attracted to light. Moths may also be attracted to food or clothing within the home.

Caterpillar

Specifically, many of these moths are great for pollinating gardens and have stunning aesthetic features. If you see these moths, just leave them to it; they definitely won’t hurt your house. Also, be sure to inspect any used furniture, rugs, fabrics, or secondhand materials for moth larvae or eggs before carrying them into your home. If you suspect that an item may be harboring moth eggs, seal it in a trash bag and freeze it for 72 hours to kill eggs and larvae. Keep in mind that there are over 160,000 different species of moths in the world.

Do Brown House Moths bite?

With Brown House Moth identification, the main things to keep in mind are appearance and location. These moths are brown, brownish-gray, or bronze-brown in colour and are weak flyers. The ravenous larvae of these moths can be found eating keratin or cereal proteins. This may include wool, leather, fur, grains, or other exposed dry foods.

Pestilent moth species like Clothes Moths and Pantry Moths can be a serious problem and wreak havoc in your abode. In their larval stages, Pantry Moths can eat through all sorts of dry goods while Clothes Moths will happily burrow through fine fabrics and annihilate your favorite outfits. Possibly the rarest moth on the continent, the cecropia moth is North America’s largest, with a wingspan of up to 7 inches. This nocturnal species is found in the hardwood forests east of the Rocky Mountains in Canada and the United States. Like many other moths, cecropia moths do not feed as adults, but simply emerge from their cocoons in the early summer, mate, and die within two or three weeks.

In the larval phase, sod webworm moths eat grass, sod, and other low-growing plants. The Brown House Moth, or, Hofmannophilam pseudospretella, is in the class Oecophoridae. This common household pest is thought to have originated in Asia.

This may include wool, silk, cashmere, leather, feathers, and more. The Brown House Moth (Hofmannophila pseudopretella) is thought to have originated in Asia. While falling into the pantry moth category, Brown House Moths will be found throughout the home. An adult Brown House Moth is about 8-14mm long and has a 15-26mm wide wingspan.

These moths lay eggs near what they deem to be delicious food sources. The eggs hatch into hungry larvae that begin eating their way through all edible materials nearby. Unfortunately, to the Clothes Moth Larva, a palatable food source could be essentially any natural, animal-based fibers, or biodegradable fabric material. This means that Clothes Moth Larvae will eat through textiles such as silk, fur, wool, cotton, cashmere, or even tougher materials such as leather and suede. They hide in and infest items like clothing and upholstery made of animal materials. Adult moths won't actually eat your garments, but their larvae feed on the natural clothing fibers in materials like wool, which contain keratin, the Orkin experts say.

Although you might think your home is safe from the mayhem of moths, there are many varieties that can infiltrate your home without you noticing. The Brown House Moth is one of those pests you want to be vigilant about. Then it’s time to learn more about this particular species and how to get rid of them.

Not to mention, these moths can show up first in the 10s, then 100s, then 1000s over the course of just a few days in the warmer months of the year. During mating and migration, they serve as a critical food source for birds, bats, and many other small mammals. Although it can be shocking to suddenly get visited by an army of large brown moths, they aren’t damaging to clothes, pantry items, or household goods. There are many different types of pantry moths and they can be found all over the world including most parts of North America, Europe, Asia, and Canada. These types of house moths love to get into pantry spaces or any other spots where you happen to be storing food. In particular, they like closets, larders, storerooms, cupboards, drawers, and of course, quiet pantries where they can lay their eggs.

It is not at all unusual for homeowners to observe these insects flocking in large numbers around outdoor light fixtures or windows during the nighttime hours. However, a surge of moths in your house could also mean that a generation of moths have just reached maturity and are now emerging to mate and lay eggs. Dealing with the presence of White-Shouldered House Moths within residential and commercial spaces is a common challenge faced by many individuals. Understanding their impact and implementing effective pest control measures is essential. After several molts, the larvae enter the pupal stage, where they undergo a transformation inside their protective cases. During this stage, they undergo metamorphosis, developing into adult moths.

How to Get Rid of Moths: 8 Ways, Plus Prevention Tips

By gaining a deeper understanding of this species, we can develop sustainable strategies to minimize its impact on homes and preserve its ecological importance. As a common species with a wide global distribution, the White-Shouldered House Moth does not currently face any significant conservation concerns. However, regional populations may experience fluctuations due to changing environmental factors. Despite their small size, White-Shouldered House Moths have predators that actively seek them out. Birds, bats, spiders, and certain insect species consider them a tasty meal, helping to regulate their populations in nature.

Clothes moths can be a problem all year round, but spring often sees a surge of issues. That’s because the warm weather encourages them to hatch out of their winter cocoons. From there, they search for a dark, humid space which goes undisturbed to lay their eggs. And seeing that the larvae loves to feast on natural fibres, such as wool, silk and cashmere, that makes our wardrobes a prime attraction.

How to Get Rid of Moths in the Home

Although annoying, most of these moths aren’t especially damaging. Still, they’re not particularly helpful either and generally won’t aid you in pollinating your garden. The Brown House Moth (Hofmannophila Pseudospretella) is a common House Moth originally from Asia. In the 1840s, this moth was introduced to Europe, eventually spreading through the British Isles, and also into America. Being that they prefer to cling to walls before it gets dark, you might not even know you have a moth problem until you find a dead one.

Store food in airtight jars

White moth eggs in your home are never a good sign and can be indicative of an infestation. Thoroughly clean your home and use Moth Killing Sprays to eliminate all eggs and larvae. Expert tips and DIY traps to remove clothes and pantry moths, instantly. Moths aren’t the most harmful pest you can find in your household, but they can cause plenty of damage to clothes, food, and other belongings. If you have allergies, moths can be a nuisance to your symptoms.

You’ll never look at moths the same way again after this up-close look at their beauty and behaviors in California’s landscapes. This moth’s destructive abilities come from its larvae’s inherent power to consume and degrade keratin via a lactic acid bacteria present in the gut. In the adult phase, the brown house moth is small and as the name suggests, brown. They are no larger than 1/2 of an inch long and have a speckled pattern on their wings. The larvae chew through and damage food sources and their packaging, such as plastic bags or thin cardboard. Pantry moths are attracted to food sources in your pantry, which they eat, and then they lay eggs.

Various species of cutworm moths and caterpillars can be a nuisance in California vegetable gardens and on certain crops. Some of the more problematic ones include the variegated cutworm (Peridroma saucia), shiny climbing cutworm (Apamea indocilis) and the glassy cutworm (Apamea devastator). Cutworm larvae spend their days hidden just below the soil surface or beneath debris, coming out to feed at night on stems, buds, leaves, and roots. ID clues for larvae are their plump, smooth bodies and lack of legs. Preventive steps include weed removal, tillage of topsoil to disrupt larvae, and surrounding plants with barriers.

How to Get Rid of Moths

This issue stems from the larvae, which chew through plastic bags and cardboard and contaminate the food inside. Of the two, clothes moths are the ones you want to watch out for, according to Natalie Bungay, technical and compliance officer at the British Pest Control Association (BPCA). They particularly like older fabrics, so that charity shop haul might turn out to be a real feast for them. One of the most commonly confronted and damaging in this list is the Webbing Clothes Moth (Tineola bisselliella).

Cleaning Closet

Dry cleaning is an effective way to kill clothes moths, their eggs, and larvae. This is sometimes necessary because moth larvae tend to damage delicate items you can’t wash in hot temperatures. For example, cashmere sweaters, mohair scarves, or wool jackets can be dry cleaned without the risk of them shrinking.

White Shouldered House Moth

house moth

Their bodies are usually gray with bands of white, and they have copper-colored wings. Codling moths are mostly nocturnal, so it’s rare to see an active adult codling moth during the day. Their larvae are usually found in fruits such as apples and pears. Generally, bristles indicate that a caterpillar may be poisonous, but that isn’t the case with cecropia moths.

Also, check items at the grocery store for signs of Pantry Moths before bringing them home. Pretty much any organic or animal-based material is at risk of Clothes Moth damage. Though the larvae can basically gnaw through anything, they prefer animal-based fibers that contain lots of keratin. Wool, silk, furs, and cashmere are all favorites of the Clothes Moth. So, they will happily target wool fibers in rugs, carpets, blankets, or drapes and cause damage.

In addition, its gray to light brown wings are lightly mottled. In fact, they will seek out dark, undisturbed places to lay their eggs, such as the back of your wardrobe or seldom-opened drawers. Check in these spots for signs of creamy white larvae with a brown head. They're hard to miss as one female moth can deposit anywhere from 50 to 1,000 eggs at a time! They’re also known to leave behind a musty smell in greater numbers. With its distinctively jagged wing edges and handsome coloration, the mourning cloak (Nymphalis antiopa) is a familiar sight in California gardens and parks.

Ceanothus silk moths (Hyalophora euryalus) have a wingspan around 3 inches but are covered in gray furry scales that make them appear even larger. Well camouflaged to blend in with lichen covered tree bark, the moths only fly for a few nights as adults seeking mates. The bright green caterpillars reach up to 3 inches long and have wart-like tubercles with long grey and black tufts. While the larvae feed heavily on Ceanothus leaves, the shrubs generally recover after defoliation. Armyworm (Spodoptera spp.) outbreaks occasionally happen in California lawns, pastures, and agricultural crops when large numbers of migrating moths move into the area. Armyworm caterpillars can completely decimate patches of grass or field crops when present in high densities.

From damaged clothes, spoilt food, cocoons lyingeverywhere in the home, they should habitat in your home. The most essentialpiece of this article has been knowing how to identify the moths and where tolook for them to check if you have an infestation. To check on whether you are infested by these, check yourfood for webbed food particles brought together by the glue on the larvae thatstick in food as it moves. You should also see whitish worms/ caterpillarsabout 0.6 inches long with a blackhead. The Indian meal moth also referred to as the pantry mothwill be found in most of your foodstuffs like cereals, grains, nuts, seeds, orstore-bought foods. Once the female moth lays the eggs, they’ll hatch intolarva which then webs around the food.

You can get rid of pantry moths for good by always storing cereals, dried grain products, pasta, flour, and similar foodstuffs in airtight, sealable containers. Remember that a cereal box and the internal packaging is no match for pesky house moth larvae. Like all types of house moths, the larvae of the white-shouldered moth do the damage. The tiny grub-like bugs feed on dried fruits, cereal, seeds, and dry plant debris.

"Ghetto House Radio" GHR Show 894 Richard Vission, Moguai, Riddler, Peeti V Podcast Episode 2024

ghetto house

Crowds would gather outside the gates, eager to catch a glimpse of the athletes living there. At times as we stopped the car, got out, took a few photos and hopped back inside, it did feel like we were being disrespectful to the people who live here. However, it’s not like I could safely get a bus to the area and stroll around by myself. When I raised the topic with James, he responded that it was good that people were starting to be interested in a part of Los Angeles that had long been neglected by just about everyone. James said there are generally 2 kinds of people who come on these tours – those who think that the “thug life” is glamorous and those who genuinely want to learn more about the hood.

Regardless, once again these definitions rely on external factors such as where employers are located and how much money average residents make. What defines a ghetto in any given place changes over time due to economic circumstances and personal preferences.

Despite the fact that you’re in no way racist and that it sounds wrong if you don’t say it and censor yourself, bottom line is you can’t say it, and you don’t. I have a full awareness of the pro and cons of “ghetto/slum tourism” and appreciate the fact in being able to visit the hood, take a look around, and leave, I was in a particular position of privilege. I think that what's funny about Chicago house is that a lot of old stuff is being sped up to 120, 125BPM.

They listen to everything on YouTube—they put things in playlists. Deeon, as you'll hopefully know, is a pivotal part of the Dance Mania story. For those of you who've been living inside a wi-fi-less cave for the last thirty years, Dance Mania is the last word in stripped back, raw, and (usually) incredibly rude minimal house music. It's music that Deeon himself describes as being "for the strippers, for the street". Alongside other Windy City luminaries like DJ Funk, DJ Milton and Paul Johnson, Deeon and the Dance Mania crew created the blueprint for a new kind of house music. My experience of playing ghetto house records has been slightly less exciting.

This EP comes with an example of Deeon’s take on the emerging juke and footwork genres that began brewing from ghetto house in the early 2000s. These hyper-rhythmic, 808-led, syncopated sounds were pioneered by names such as RP Boo, DJ Clent, DJ Rashad and Waxmaster, where ghetto house DJs began playing 33 rpm records at 45 rpm speeds to soundtrack footwork dances. Here, we hear comedic vocals delivering crude and catchy lyrics over a bopping, rhythmic beat that fuses elements of acid with the ghetto house sound. Deeon extends his playful, pioneering MC style by using a different voice to emulate a separate ‘female’ persona that makes sexual advancements towards his character. This practice of sexual conversations between male and “female” voices became fairly common in the scene, breeding hilarious, dance-worthy results like DJ Nasty’s cheeky 2006 ‘Child Support’ track.

Often looking to art and music as tools and sources of inspiration, she finds her passion for the arts, writing and her community all come together within the context of journalism. There is no universal definition for what makes an area a ghetto, so people's perceptions vary. Some say it is when there is only one major employer within walking distance, while others use median income as their defining factor. Manning has seen an increase in white buyers, many who have young families, leading to shifting demographics. Many Black residents are getting older and finding they can sell homes purchased for $20,000 decades ago for over $1 million.

Though he was a much-loved staple at house parties, it took longer than it should have for clubs to catch on to his pioneering sound; unperturbed, he’d take to throwing his own parties in gymnasiums. Check out some of the best tracks from his 29-year strong career below. I'd been summoned to South London on an overcast Friday afternoon to meet a man who many claim invented the rough-hewn form of 4/4 Chicago dance music known as "ghetto house." Deeon was in town to play only his third gig in London ever.

Mitchell’s house music career almost ended before it began. In 1986, he tried to make records with Rocky Jones at DJ International and Larry Sherman at Trax, but neither effort materialized. “I gave up on house music for about a year,” he says. Eventually, Mitchell befriended Trax A&R/’On and On’ co-writer/house innovator Vince Lawrence, who introduced him to everyone in the scene, including distribution heavyweight Ray Barney, who ran Chicago hub Barney’s Records. After hearing his cassette, Barney released Mitchell’s first house record, ‘You Can’t Fight My Love’, on Bright Star Records, under the serendipitous alias Victor Romeo.

Coming in as the first instalment of Juke Trax’s “online” series, which featured artists such as the late DJ Rashad, this album weaves through new material from Deeon as well as remixes and updated versions of older tracks. My personal favourite in this series has to be ‘Grove Mode 2k1’, which delivers exactly what's promised. Another one of Deeon’s better known works, 'The Freaks' EP, delivers pure booty blasting, shoulder shrugging, groove-worthy Chicago house. Though the titular-track packs a hefty punch with its bass-led pulsations and oh-so-sampled “work it work it!

Straight Outta Compton, Visiting The Hood, Los Angeles

"It took off from there. All the DJs played it, and it became a radio hit back in 1997 and 1998. It made it all the way up to number one on WGCI-FM's "Top 9 at 9." I was surprised. That "uh oh! " chant became a regular party chant. On TV shows, I would hear the crowd do that chant. It caught on pretty bad, you know." A2’s Juke remix of the titular track, is a dirty, jit-worthy cut, while B-side tracks like ‘Shake That Butt’ returns to Deeons electro Chi-house fusions with his usual crude lyricisms. Before we dig in on specifics, can you just tell me, as an Israeli leader, as an Israeli citizen, how you’re feeling about this moment in Israeli history?

In either case, the aim is the same – to show people the hood as the guide knows it, and teach everyone on the tour something new. "Once I heard electronic dance music, there wasn't no other music to listen to. There was nothing else. My mind was just focused on that." We met up with the ghetto house legend for a candid chat on the kind of drizzly afternoon that Deeon claims to love. Mitchell continued to release music in the 90s, but thanks to a veritable explosion in vinyl reissues, his work is seeing even more interest than ever. Jamie Fry of Berlin’s Deep Moves reached out to Mitchell via Facebook in 2010 and has reissued some of his classic tracks across two volumes entitled Juke Joints.

We Spoke to DJ Deeon About the Birth of "Ghetto House" and the Legacy of Dance Mania

I will never know what it’s like to live here, and don’t claim to, I know I’ve only seen a fraction of what the hood is all about, but I certainly learned some things. It was nice to see the positive things in the hood – the families, the playgrounds, the community spirit, but it was also disheartening to see and hear that a lot of the unsavoury things are just as bad as they’re made out to be. It’s easy to talk about gangs and the “thug life”, but something I found interesting about the hood is just how many contradictions there are. You see gang members, prostitutes and crack addicts on one street, and just around the corner are families enjoying themselves, neighbours sharing food at a front yard cookouts, and children playing at the park. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to get out of the hood if you’re born in it. I was surprised to see vacant lots that James said used to house structures before the riots.

This is different than suburban development, which features large houses next to each other, little-to-no public transportation, and busy roads. Many people refer to the South and West sides of LA as being within the ghettos due to their high crime rates and poverty levels. However, it seems that these areas are becoming increasingly urbanized. Gina Fields, the Chair of the Empowerment Congress West Area Neighborhood Council, worries that the area’s Black Angelenos who can live within a majority Black community has shrunk.

He later formed a short-lived band with Kevin Irving (best known for house classic ‘Children of the Night’), who Mitchell says was “like a brother” to him. When that band broke up, Irving and Mitchell starting making house music, hitting the Muzic Box and the Warehouse during Ron Hardy’s storied run. There was a London club night called Wide, which championed ghetto house and the Detroit scene it inspired, Ghettotech, but that ended years ago, mostly owing to a lack of interest.

Another ghetto tech classic with fellow scene heavyweight DJ Godfather standing in as executive producer. The distinction between ghetto tech and ghetto house is slightly murky, but ghetto tech definitely leans more towards electro and techno (hence the name), with plenty of Detroit influence. But if you desire an average middle class lifestyle where you can afford to own your house and send your kids to good schools, then look north, south, east or west outside of I-405.

Logos on the classic methods behind his genre-bending club and ambient experiments

‘All Night Long’ was sampled liberally by producer Bakey Ustl before being reissued last year by Wicked Bass, backed with a remix by Bok Bok. Mitchell has a collaborative project with the Night Slugs boss in the works and recently finished a remix for Ed Banger’s forthcoming 10th anniversary release. The track is prototypical ghetto house, and while Mitchell helped spawn the genre, his story doesn’t end there.

Ghetto house legend Parris Mitchell on Chicago’s house heyday and the re-launch of Dance Mania

He'd come over to Chicago and he bought a cassette of mine, and I'd played a track of his—"Trax on Da Rocks"—on it so he wanted to meet us. He had lunch with Milton and I and next thing you know, Daft Punk are there, and he's mentioning us on "Teachers"! Barney had taken over Dance Mania from Jesse Saunders when the latter moved to Los Angeles, and he’d serve as an “idea man” for Mitchell’s later work. In 1993, Mitchell was at Barney’s Records when the boss came in, inspired.

Racial profiling, use of excessive force by law enforcement are very common in America. These practices are harmful not only for officers’ perceptions of people of color but also for the community they work to protect. David McNeill has noticed the shift in his neighborhood over the past few years.

Furthermore, while some studies may conclude that certain groups were disproportionately targeted by law enforcement, this does not mean that those officers behaved badly because of their race. It could be due to something unrelated such as someone’s criminal history or bad reputation. The west side of Hollywood and north east Culver City seem like they would fit into the definition very nicely. Urbanization can be defined as growing cities with lots of amenities close together.

It takes more effort to stay out of the ghetto than just avoid certain areas. This is why most people do not understand how powerful their choices are until they try to prevent themselves from being surrounded by things they want. These stereotypes often include assumptions about who lives in the ghetto and why they choose to reside there.

But the Baldwin Hills, like much of South Los Angeles, face a new challenge, as more and more non-Black residents move into the area. Baldwin Hills was visited by tragedy yet again in July 1985, when a fire destroyed 47 homes in the neighborhood. In the early 20th century, these lawless, uninhabited hills were best known for the rough and tumble oil derricks that punctured the land, and conflicts between various syndicates to control the oil fields. With its reputation as a dump site for a notorious murder, peat fires, and a narcotics ring meet-up place, the area appears to have had a wild side.

I’ve been listening to house since I bought Chicago DJ Mix Tape Demos from a cell phone accessories store in 1995 in Madison, WI. The guy would drive down to Chicago and pick up stuff and drive back. We would go buy them on a Friday and then listen to them all weekend. After ceasing operations around the turn of the millennium, the label celebrated return to the market in 2013 after a revived interest of its '90s released records. This release arrived as the first of a few compilations of DJ Deeon’s earliest and most memorable works. Another edition, ‘Sampler 3’ was released the following year.

A remarkable debut release, which was very much a sign of things to come. The template of classic Chicago house music (primarily, "It's Time for the Percolator" by Cajmere) was used with the addition of sexual lyrics.[1] It has usually been made on minimal equipment with little or no effects. Also common are 808 and 909 clap sounds, and full "rapped" verses and choruses. Instrumental in creating the house subgenre, the late producer is being mourned by the dance music community. Say what you like about this kind of tourism but personally, I’ve always wanted to visit the hood, to see the areas that my favourite hip-hop artists rap about, and left with a much better idea of what the hood is actually like than when I arrived.

This enabled prosperous Black families — forced to live in areas primarily surrounding Central Avenue — to move into neighborhoods with amenities and opportunities they had until recently been denied. The completion of the towering 19-acre Baldwin Hills Reservoir in 1951 only accelerated development, with many young families, professors and business owners moving into the sprawling one-story ranch and modern homes proliferating in the hills. One of the questions that I’ve been asked is whether things on this tour are put on for tourists, with the gangster aspect being over-hyped or if it’s genuine. The people who run this tour all grew up in the hood, and James was a great guide.

The self-taught architect was among one of the most sought-after modernist talents in Los Angeles at one point, and his resume includes the Wave House in Malibu, a residence that famously inspired the Sydney Opera House’s curvy façade. Now, there’s a rare opportunity to snap up one of the midcentury architect’s homes—more specifically the Flying Wing House, a Hollywood Hills manse that looks like a big wooden bird or plane perched on a hill—for $8 million. “We hope to see Woody’s reborn in a new location in the future, so for now, it’s not goodbye–just see you later,” Woody’s statement reads.

That was in the 1970s; it’s now owned by the estate of Erick Morillo, a DJ who passed away in September. The living spaces are sunny concoctions of wood and glass with a few splashes of brick.

It’s perched on its own promontory lot of about an acre with 300-degree views, parking for six cars and a variety of outdoor spaces. Lawns stretch along the side of the estate, and out back, there’s a spacious patio, dining area, outdoor kitchen and an infinity-edge swimming pool and spa with a recording studio tucked underneath. The expansive glass-and-wood residence sits on about an acre of land, perched atop a promontory with amazing, 300-degree views of Los Angeles. Based on the form of a bird, the architectural gem was built by Gesner in the 1970s for Mike Hynes, a lumber mill owner who reportedly wanted the home to showcase his company’s wood. Gesner fulfilled Hynes’ vision, as the hilltop perch employs a structural system of wood poles and features living spaces loaded with lumber. Another of the architect’s most notable works, however, just surfaced for sale across the city in the Hollywood Hills, where the Flying Wing house is up for grabs at $8 million.

Cavaliers, Magic Game 2 Instant Reaction: Takeaways From Cleveland's 96-86 Win

the house of magic

The movie's subplots are divided between Daniel the real estate agent trying -- and failing -- to get anyone to seriously consider the house and Lawrence befriending two children at the hospital. As much fun as kids will have with the slapstick, Home Alone-like humor of the pets outsmarting the selfish nephew, parents will appreciate the scenes between Lawrence and his two new friends, themselves bored patients looking to make a new friend. There's something remarkably touching about inter-generational friendships, whether it's Dumbledore and Harry, Hugo and Georges, or Carl and Russell. Thunder and the House of Magic may not be quite as unforgettable as Harry Potter, Hugo, or Up, but it's still an enchanting little film. This is one of those surprisingly entertaining adventures that isn't produced by one of the major animation studios. It's rare to find a lower-budget animated film that's got such a strong story, theatrical-caliber animation, and valuable messages.

As for Daniel, He continues His job and when He tries to buy a house from an elderly woman, who turns out to be a cat lady, and as a group of cats come inside, Daniel sneezes, and screams that He wants to find a new line of work. When Mr Lawrence recovers his injuries, he returns to entertaining children with his magic shows, in which Thunder now has his very own part alongside Jack and Maggie.

Whilst riding back home, a disgruntled Jack and Maggie show their disapproval by attempting to get rid of him once and for all; jabbing sharpened crayons, they poke Thunder off the trunk strapped to the back of the bicycle. During the ensuing mayhem, Lawrence suffers an accident and is sent to the hospital, as Thunder is left sprawled behind. School of Magic (formerly School of Magic) was announced in 2017.[3][4] The series was produced by TeamTO and Federation Kids and Family. Despite Mitchell’s optimal fit with the team, the Pelicans might be hesitant to pull the trigger on a deal considering he could still leave as a free agent. While he is far less talented than Mitchell, at 24 Garland has plenty of upside and he would give the Pelicans a more traditional playmaking guard. The Garland-Zion duo would be a highlight factory and the pairing would elevate both players’ games.

The lobby bar still holds the former residence’s original wooden staircase, and behind the bar are old cellophane advertising slides from bygone movie houses. The Castle even ages its own old fashioneds in branded whiskey barrels kept behind the bar. A woman opens her car's door and throws a toy on the sidewalk so that her cat chases after the toy. The tabby ginger cat, who seems still kittenish, realising that he has been abandoned by his owner, looks for a refuge. A tiny chihuahua attempts to befriend him but is quickly dragged off by his leash.

Every Wednesday night at 6555 Hollywood Blvd. in the heart of Hollywood, Scot Nery hosts Scot Nery’s Boobietrap, the most energetic, exciting and unpredictable variety show in the city. A talented juggler and comedian who has traveled the world, Scot has a far-reaching network consisting of many incredible performers (including magicians and other variety artists from renowned shows such as Cirque Du Soleil). Each performer only gets four minutes before getting kicked off stage, a format that makes for a fast-paced and fresh experience. Each week the show is completely different and you never know what to expect. And, if one play their cards right, a friendly magician could offer an invitation for some other show, some other night. Or guests who spring for the $20 portrait photo (the only images usually allowed to be taken inside) will automatically get passes to come back another night, a secret that’s rather useful for anyone who catches the bug and needs a repeat viewing.

THUNDER AND THE HOUSE OF MAGIC follows an orange tabby cat (voiced by Murray Blue) who's been cold-heartedly abandoned in the middle of the street. Unsure what to do, he winds up at an old, supposedly haunted mansion that's actually the home of a kindly retired magician, Lawrence (Doug Stone), who lives with his pets and a host of whimsical toys that don't speak but do move. Although the elder magician's rabbit, Jack (George Babbit), and mouse, Maggie (Shanelle Gray), want the cat to leave, Lawrence decides to add him to the family and names him Thunder (Murray Blue). When Lawrence is hurt after a bicycle accident, his greedy nephew (Grant George), a real estate agent, decides to sell the mansion while his uncle is hospitalized. It's up to Thunder to convince Lawrence's crew of resident friends to band together and scare potential buyers off the property.

Ingram is a 2025 free agent and declined an extension with the Pelicans before the season. Furthermore, he has not elevated his play without Zion Williamson in the playoffs. The Pelicans also have a plethora of talented young wings highlighted by Herb Jones and Trey Murphy making Ingram somewhat replaceable. The Pelicans desperately need a true lead guard and could target that in a possible Ingram deal. J.B. Bickerstaff called Sam Merrill a weapon before Game 1 and he released that weapon for just four minutes on Saturday. Merrill probably could have earned more time had he hit a couple shots during the short stretch on the floor.

Inside The Magic Castle, the Most Mysterious Restaurant in Los Angeles

Most folks who make it through the front door (which carries its own magic surprise) end up staying for dinner, which means just about any night of the week The Magic Castle is among the busiest full-service restaurants in Los Angeles. The dining area can seat up to 150 guests at a clip, and usually turns over at least twice a night. Add in weekend brunch, and a Saturday could see 450 to 600 diners, easily. That’s to say nothing of the several bars on property, with their own bar menus. It helps to know a member, or have a friend-of-a-friend with a membership, and earn passes that way.

Meanwhile, once out the trunk, Jack (who broke his leg in the accident) and Maggie convince the automatons (except Edison) of Thunder's guilt in causing the accident despite Thunder trying to tell the truth. He hopes Carlo and Carla will prove his innocence, which fails when they are intimidated by Jack. Nevertheless, Thunder manages to convince everyone that they need him to save the house since Daniel is proven to be severely allergic to cats. The next possible buyer, the Chihuahua's owner, is also driven away but not before the Chihuahua is able to rescue Thunder. In a misunderstanding, Daniel's assumed to be harming her dog, whilst in fact attempting to trap the cat. Later, Thunder visits Lawrence at the hospital and is pleased to discovers Lawrence never blamed him after all.

Fellow Swedish DJ/artist Alesso collaborated with Calvin Harris, Usher, and David Guetta.[123] In France, Justice blended garage and alternative rock influences into their pop-infused house tracks, creating a big and funky sound. In Detroit during the early and mid-1980s, a new kind of electronic dance music began to emerge around Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, known as the Belleville Three. The artists fused eclectic, futuristic sounds into a signature Detroit dance sound that was a main influence for the later techno genre. House music has remained popular on radio and in clubs while retaining a foothold on the underground scenes across the globe. Big room house became increasingly popular since 2010, through international dance music festivals such as Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, and Electric Daisy Carnival. In addition to these popular examples of house, there has also been a reunification of contemporary house and its roots.

Before Jack can throw him out again, Lawrence wakes up and picks up the kitten and decides to adopt him, naming him Thunder (after his fear of lightning). By the early 1990s, artists of note on those two labels included Dajae, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, DJ Rush, Paul Johnson, Joe Lewis, and Glenn Underground. Thunder, an abandoned young cat seeking shelter from a storm, stumbles into the strangest house imaginable, owned by an old magician and inhabited by a dazzling array of automatons and gizmos. Not everyone welcomes the new addition to the troupe as Jack Rabbit and Maggie Mouse plot to evict Thunder.

At first Thunder's story is heartbreaking -- how could anyone abandon their cat? But in language even young kids can understand, Lawrence explains how, when people lose jobs and homes, they can't always take care of their pets anymore. Thunder's story is similar to all fictional orphans -- they want a home, a place to belong, a family. Lawrence's house is magic because it provides just that for a motley crew of pets and magical little toys.

Dinner comes by way of executive chef Jason Sperber, who has been overseeing the kitchen since 2014. The menu is mostly continental fare, big steaks and classics like beef wellington, with fried calamari and lobster tails to boot. Unlike years ago, when the Magic Castle’s food was pretty widely panned, sauces are now made in-house, and Sperber even operates a small garden on property, out by the large parking lot.

In a game where Donovan Mitchell took over, the Cavaliers got contributions from all across the roster. Last posteason served as a learning experience for a young Cleveland Cavaliers team. This year's playoffs will serve as a lesson on how to handle a 2-0 series lead.

When Daniel comes home with one or two possible buyers, Thunder uses all tricks and cheats in order to prevent the house from being sold. Due to the clever tricks employed, the various owners and workman are frightened away from the house, believing it haunted. Bar limes disappear, real drinks are poured, and everyone has a great time. With Mr Lawrence in the hospital, his materialist and real estate agent nephew, Daniel, tricks Mr Lawrence into putting his house of magic up for sale, so he might sell it to the highest bidder. Discovering Daniel's trick, Thunder goes back home to alert Mr Lawrence's gizmos and automatons.

Meanwhile, Jack and Maggie try by all ways to exile Thunder from the house, jealous and afraid of being substituted.

Trax Records and DJ International Records, Chicago labels with wider distribution, helped popularize house music inside and outside of Chicago. During the 2010s, multiple new sounds in house music were developed by DJs, producers, and artists. Sweden pioneered the "Festival progressive house" genre with the emergence of Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, and Steve Angello. While all three artists had solo careers, when they formed a trio called Swedish House Mafia, it showed that house could still produce chart-topping hits, such as their 2012 single "Don't You Worry Child", which cracked the Billboard top 10. Avicii was a Swedish DJ/artist known for his hits such as "Hey Brother", "Wake Me Up", "Addicted to You", "The Days", "The Nights", "Levels", "Waiting for Love", "Without You", and "I Could Be the One" with Nicky Romero.

There are plenty of rumors around Donovan Mitchell and the assumption is he’ll leave as a 2025 free agent.

Many hip hop and R&B artists also turned to house music to add a mass appeal and dance floor energy to the music they produce. Tropical house went onto the top 40 on the UK singles Chart in 2015 with artists such as Kygo and Jonas Blue. In the mid-2010s, the influences of house began to also be seen in Korean K-pop music, examples of this being f(x)'s single "4 Walls" and SHINee's title track, "View".
